24 weeks!

Today's day: Saturday March 31, 2012

How far along: 24 weeks!

Sex: Boy!

Maternity Clothes: I'm gaining weight rapidly..eek! I have to wear almost all maternity shirts now and I can wear a few of my old pants with the belly band. I love wearing leggings on the weekends and dresses during the work week :)

Sleep: I don't know if insomnia is common during pregnancy but I haven't been sleeping well at all. I woke up today at about 4:00am and couldn't get back to sleep. Luckily I take naps just fine!

Best moment(s) of the week: Today Bran and I registered at Babies R' us. It was so overwhelming! I really wish I had more mom friends out here... I need lots of help :(

Movement: He's been moving lots and lots. I can feel his little body now when I press on my belly. He lays on my right side head down because I feel his feet jabbing towards my ribs everyday!

Food cravings: Anything sweet! Chocolate is a big craving and I know I'm not supposed to have a lot so I try my best to control this craving :) Spicy stuff too!

Symptoms: I think I may have found my first stretch mark on my boobs! They are growing very rapidly. Also, my two disks I slipped several years ago are causing me to have a lot of back pain. I'm going to see the doctor soon to see what I can do to relieve the pain. Standing all day at work is not good for me right now!

Labor Signs: Nope! Once in awhile I feel my stomach tighten...Braxton hicks I guess?

Belly button: My belly button is half out and half in. It looks so scary!

What I miss: I still miss wine sometimes and feeling small!

What I'm looking forward to: Seeing my family in May...it's been WAY too long since I've been home.

Size and growth of our baby: Baby is now the length of an EAR OF CORN!

So I know in my last post I said I was going to get a lot done over the weekend but poor Bran is sick! We did chose the gray paint color "passive" for the baby room and tested it on the wall tonight. It looks good so far! I am still deciding whether I want to go a little darker or not. It's so tough picking a color that works!
Trying to decide if this is too light of a gray. We want to do white stripes with this gray on one wall....I need opinions please!! :)

Bran and I also got a chance to go register at Babies R us for the baby today. I didn't want to register for a lot of things but it was helpful to see things we liked and didn't like. I can't believe how overwhelming it was! There was an isle dedicated to just breast feeding and I have never seen so many accessories in my life. I think I needed to bring a mom along with me because Bran and I sorta gave up...ha! It's crazy how expensive baby items are too....I know you don't need EVERYTHING but there were so many little things I forgot I needed. Hopefully we can have most of the necessities ready for him before he gets here :) I almost forgot...here's a pic of our new couches for those of you who haven't seen yet!
I need to buy a lamp for the corner...not sure what color yet!

Summer has arrived in the desert! And yes I say summer because the heat is so intense right now! I feel like I am getting over heated a lot faster now and our air conditioner will already be put to use this week. Benefits of the Spring heat though: Pool time, pretty roses, tanning, and getting closer to baby Sev being here! Hooe you all have a great week! Here is a pic of our first rose of the season grown right in our backyard!

23 weeks!

Hi everyone! Sorry I am a little late on my post but this week has been  a little crazy in the life of the Severinsen's. I had parent teacher conferences this week which makes for a long week...but it was a good one! It was nice hearing how much the parents appreciated what I was doing for their little ones and some days I need to be reminded that I am making a difference. In the world of teaching it doesn't always feel like you are. So it was a success having every parent there to talk to! Brandon's grandparents are also in town for two weeks so we have been spending a lot of time with them. It reminds me of what it is like to have family around and I miss that.

Today Brandon and I took his grandparents to a spring training game. It's funny to see all the cute little families out with their kids and think that Brandon and I are going to be them very soon. Brandon was also chuckling because the family next to us had this little boy (probably 2ish) playing with little trucks, wearing a backwards Brewers hat, and content as can be while his older sister was SCREAMING her head off because she didn't get the candy she wanted. Brandon confirmed that having a little boy is going to be fun after seeing them...ha!  I know this isn't every situation but it made us both laugh how different kids behaviors can be. Hopefully this little guy is content and happy!

As far as baby news, things have been kind of slow around here preparing for him. We had a check list of things we wanted to get done and none of them have happened quite yet. I did get him some cute curtains, I ordered fabric for his window sham and bed skirt, and bought him a couple of cute outfits! Other than that not much progress made. We are hoping to paint his room this weekend but we'll see how much time we have. He is also growing quite a bit inside my belly...I can feel him kicking my ribs now! Here are a few highlights of our weekend and the Brewer's game. I hope everyone else had a great weekend and I can't wait to see you in May!

EEk....I'm getting big!
The first front view taken....feeling scared for the next 3.5 months of growth!
squinting because we can't see with the intense sun!
Wally and Cheri!
My favorite mountains that I see on the way to work :)

22 weeks!

Today's date: Saturday March 17th..Happy St. Pattys day!
How far along: 22 weeks yesterday!
Sex: boy :)

Sleep: I haven't been sleeping too well this week. I'm on spring break and was hoping to sleep in until at least 8! For some reason I wake up at 5:00am ready to go each morning. I think my work schedule is engraved in my head!
Best moment(s) of the week:  Having Bran's grandparents visiting and another fun trip to ikea! Cleaning and making owls again was also nice...I miss my crafting!

Movement: He's super active and it's easy to see and feel his movements from the outside now. Bran felt him last night and we could actually see him shifting from the left side of my stomach to the right...not going to lie it was a little creepy but amazing at the same time :)

Morning sickness: bye bye morning sickness

Labor signs: Way too soon. Sometimes my tummy will tighten to practice for the real deal though!

Belly button in or out:
it looks like a shallow swimming pool...ha!
Food cravings/aversions: lately not so much! Chocolate milk was a weird craving yesterday...seems like I am craving alot of calcium!

Symptoms: I think I may have a little bit of insomnia! I'm only getting 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Between the baby kicking me and not finding a comfortable position that has been kind of rough. I'm also noticing another spurt of weight gain!
What I miss:  painting things, green beer on St. Pattys day, and my family :)

Here are a few pics from the weekend!

Playing some corn hole with wally

I love seeing Bran so happy with his grandpa :)

Rocco plays corn hole by stealing the bags off the board and bringing them to his mom :)

Pretty Cheri

Desert life :)

Feeling large and in charge lately...new maternity gauchos! :)
Soon to come: pictures of our new couches in the family room :) and baby room painting in two weeks!

At 11 inches and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until she adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

21 weeks!

Today's date: Saturday, March 10, 2011
How far along: 21 weeks and 1 day! Due date is Friday, July 20th :)

Sex: Baby boy!

Maternity clothes: I have been wearing about half and half. I bought some really cute maternity things at target and motherhood and I feel so much more comfortable in them than my regular clothes!

Sleep: My sciatic nerve is back in spasm mode! I think the baby is pressing right down on my pooey disk...so sleeping has been tough. I sleep with a body pillow between my legs which is helping.

Best moment(s) of the week:  Brandon and I went shopping today for some house things. It doesn't sound exciting but he's so glued to football during football season that it's nice to have him shop with me again!

Movement: I feel him lots and lots and always on the right side. The ultrasound showed that he is head down by my cervix and his feet are on my right side which is why I'm always feeling his kicks! I love feeling him move around it's exciting.

Food cravings/aversions: ice cream has been a big craving lately...usually I'm a cookie person! Maybe I'm not getting enough calcium in my diet?

Morning sickness: Nope just major headaches still

Symptoms: I'm still having shoulder and lower back pain...I think a lot of it is due to the large amount of weight I gained in such a short time. I actually almost fell over in the closet getting ready today because my weight has shifted so much so fast!

Labor signs: Way too soon.

Belly button in or out:  Half in

What I miss: A clean house (too tired to clean everyday now!) and family

What I'm looking forward to: Bran's grandparents are coming in 5 days and Becky's wedding in Vegas! :) That weekend is also going to be our "babymoon"

Size and growth of our baby:
Baby is now the length of a CARROT!

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like he's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to his activity as you get to know him better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

Final ultrasound!

Hey everybody! Today, Brandon and I had our final ultrasound with baby Sev. This is the first time I wasn't nervous about an ultrasound because I've been feeling him so much the last few days. He was so active when we got there! He ended up doing a flip during the ultrasound so we got to see him from all angles and it even looked like he smiled a bit. I feel like I could stare at him all day long :) I am definitely falling more in love with him each kick and picture I get to see of him. I came home feeling so relaxed today knowing he is safe and doing great. I think it makes all my other worries go away! Here are some pictures from the ultrasound. I am not a professional photographer by any means so sorry if they're blurry or hard to see. I tried!

Side profile of his head! :)

Cracking his mouth open a little bit

Waving his arm around

Putting his arms up over his face "enough pictures mom I'm over it already" :)

My favorite pic of him...he's smiling at the camera :)

Proof it's a boy!

20 weeks!

Sorry I'm a little late on the weekend post! Brandon and I enjoyed the sunshine this weekend and enjoyed some fun in our city. We went to a BBQ competition and I sampled maybe a little too much. I ended up feeling a little sick to my stomach last night and still today! I am learning what gives me heartburn pretty fast now. I hope you all had a great weekend! Here is an updated belly pic...half way feels great!
Today's date: Sunday, March 4, 2011
How far along: 20 weeks….halfway!
Sex: Little boy :)
Maternity clothes: I went to motherhood last weekend and they had a buy one get one half off sale. I went a little nuts and got some shirts, a pair of jeans and a cute new dress! My legs still fit in my old jeans I just wear a belly band because I can't button.
Sleep: Sleep has not been going well this week! Sleeping on my side has been an adjustment and i've been having some wild dreams. I bought a body pillow to help me :) I'm noticing alot of back pain when I get up.
Best moment(s) of the week:  Feeling strong kicks from the baby :) He weighs as much as a red bull now and I feel lots of movement :)
Movement: I feel him almost hourly now!
Labor signs: Way too soon. I have been getting a few braxton hicks according to the doc though.
What I miss:  family and a good nights sleep. Maybe this is nature’s way of preparing me for when the baby comes?
What I'm looking forward to: We have our last ultrasound this Wednesday to make sure all of his little parts are ok! :) I can't believe I don't get to see him after Wednesday...it will drive me nuts!
Food cravings/aversions: chocolate and still craving spicy stuff
Morning sickness: It's more of a morning headache nausea feeling...but not enough to puke anymore.
Belly button in or out: Still in but getting wider.
Symptoms: Really bad back pain :( I've also had some pretty intense headaches and heartburn! I felt bad I had to cancel some afternoon plans today because of my headache and heartburn.

Size and growth of our baby: Baby is now the length of a BANANA!

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel. For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of her head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for her digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in her first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).
